City of Church Tour
First Missionary will be participating in the 6th Annual City of Churches tour this year. The tour will be held on Friday,
December 2 from 6 to 9 PM and will include 15 different Fort Wayne churches. If you are able to help greet our visitors at the South Wayne or Main Entrance doors, you can have your choice of a 1 hour timeslot from 6 to 7 PM, 7 to 8 PM, or 8 to 9 PM. Come and hear the Christmas Brass (Everette Hornbarger and Jared Ragsdale – trumpets, Phil Logan – baritone, and John Gerig – French horn) on Saturday, December 3. They will be at Kroger Southgate at noon and outside the Friendly Fox at 1 PM.
Helping Harrison Hill Elementary
One of our local partners, Harrison Hill Elementary, is looking for volunteers for the Winter Sparkle Shop! Students are given the opportunity to buy small gifts for their families at a small cost. The students are always thrilled with this opportunity to take a gift home for their family members.
The Sparkle Shop opens Monday, December 5 and runs throughout the week during the day. They looking for volunteers to help the students shop and wrap presents, especially in the morning from 8:30 to 11:30 AM. Please contact Elaine Milhouse, Harrison Hill school liaison, for more information and to schedule a time to volunteer. Thank you for taking the time to love on the students and families of our community!
Christmas Cards for Missionaries
It’s time again to remember our missionaries with Christmas cards. We will again have boxes in the main hallway by the Fellowship Hall. They are available now through Sunday, December 11. We will have a few cards close by but you may also use your own cards. Thank you for expressing gratitude to them in this way. They appreciate that we remember them.
We will be having an additional day of collection for First Fruits this year specifically for needy families of children attending
South Wayne Elementary School to provide them with food
during their Christmas break. The non-perishable items that
are needed are listed below. Please bring your items to
church on Sunday, December 18. If you have any questions
or are able to help transport items on that Sunday, please
contact Sherry Benevich.

Info on Upcoming Services
On Sunday, December 18, our elementary children will be helping lead worship during our Sunday morning gathering. On Saturday, December 24 at 5 pm, we will be gathering together by
candlelight for a time of worship through singing carols, hearing from God’s Word, and taking up our special missions offering. Coffee Connection will also be serving that night so you can come early or stay after for coffee, hot chocolate, and Christmas cookies.
On Christmas Sunday morning, we will not be meeting in person, however, we will be streaming the service at 10:30 AM through our website and on Facebook like we normally do. The prerecorded service will be led by our pastoral staff and wives this year. So although we won’t gather as a church on Sunday, we encourage you to enjoy quality time with your loved ones on Christmas. We made the decision to stream only and allow families to watch the service together when it was convenient for all. This also allows those who serve in ministries on Sunday morning to be with their families on Christmas morning.
Missionary Pathway Training
Beginning Sunday, October 9 from 9 to 10 AM in the Lower Auditorium, we will be doing our discipleship training called the “Missionary Pathway” in an effort to intentionally place discipleship into the hands of everyday people. This class is limited to 25 people. There is still space left!
In this 7-week training led by Pastor Brian, we will be sharing tools that will be a part of understanding our role as disciples who disciple others and we will be modeling ways to disciple the persons of peace in our lives.
We are asking that you make a commitment to be a part of all 7 times. In the event you are not able to participate, we ask that you view the teaching (which will be videoed) and do the exercises outside of our time together.
Our topics will include:
· Prayer and Fasting
· Persons of peace
· Being a missionary in the American context
· Simple ways to share the gospel
· Discovery Bible studies
· Being led by the Holy Spirit
· Finding our spiritual leadership gifts
· Modeling the practices of Jesus in discipleship.

Christians and the Arts Class
The ‘Christians in the Arts’ class will be meeting each Sunday from 9 to 10 AM in the Young Families Room for the next 8 weeks as we go through the book ‘Imagine: A Vision for Christians in the Arts’ by Steve Turner.
This week we will be discussing the last chapter. On December 11, we will be brainstorming ideas for how to incorporate the arts into our church.
Women’s Christmas Event
Ladies, mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 6 at 6:30 PM for our annual Christmas Event. This will be a potluck style dinner. The church will provide the main dish, and we ask that you bring a side, salad, or dessert. Volunteers for Birthday Parties for Jesus
Ladies, once again women’s ministry will be hosting birthday parties for Jesus at both Mentoring Moms on Thursday, December 8 from 4:45 to 7:30 PM and at Redemption House on Thursday, December 15 from 6 to 8 PM. The parties celebrate the birth of Jesus and include games, a craft, refreshments, music, and a devotional.
Volunteers are needed! Could you plan and prepare a simple craft, help with refreshments, put your musical gift to use, or attend and connect with the ladies? Many of you have asked the question, “Where does the name, IF:TABLE come from? The name was inspired by the question, “If God is real…then what?”
Our first gathering of IF:TABLE was enjoyed by 37 women, and we would love to see every lady involved! If you have participated in the past, you will be put in a new group so you can meet and spend time with different ladies.

It enables others to safely share out of the depths of their hearts, which brings about a greater sense of caring and bonding with one another.”
